Crochet Christmas Trees
I've been on the lookout for some cute DIY Christmas decorations to add to our collection and that I can also use as photo props with some of the other Christmas decorations I make.
Also, it's that time of year, and how can I not make Christmasy things?
I found a free pattern for these crochet Christmas trees that I think turned out really cute.
They remind me of the Christmas trees you can buy at the grocery store.
They have that nice full bushy look and I really love them.
I don't know if my pictures do this pattern justice, but I really love the look of these.

So far, I have made five of them, and I plan on making at least a couple more.
I need to make sure everybody has one of their favourite colour, don't you know. 😁
I made the mint green and the white one using Red Heart Comfort yarn and a size 4mm (G) Clover Amour crochet hook. The mint green one has been claimed already by my 8 year old, and I still need to make a purple one for my husband. I'll be using Red Heart Super Saver in the colour amethyst for that one.
I like to buy the red heart yarn, which is an acrylic yarn, because it is great for making Amigurumi, it is economical, and it comes in a large variety of colours.
These are the first trees I made. I used this deliciously soft alpaca blend wool by Berroco Yarn. It is a blend of 50% alpaca and 50% wool. It is a medium worsted weight just like the red heart comfort and super saver yarns, but I find it to be lighter, so I used a smaller hook when working with it. The hook size I used was a 3.75mm (F) Clover Amour hook.
I really love this yarn. I love the way it looks, and I love the way it feels. The dark green one is called Peat Mix and the lighter green one is called Irwyn Mix. I bought mine here at a local shop called Coastal Fibres.
When I made the lighter green alpaca mix tree, I did a live stream on my TwitchTV channel.
Here are the links to the live stream on my youtube channel: Crochet Christmas Tree Part 1 & Crochet Christmas Tree Part 2.
My 8 year old son and I are planning on decorating our trees using sequins and I'm crocheting a star to put on top of them. I will post pics of the decorated trees on my instagram.
I really loved this pattern. It is well written, easy to follow, and the result is well worth it.
She has so many other awesome free crochet patterns on her blog. I have definitely not made my last project from her site.
