Reading Yarn Labels for Beginners Learning to Crochet No 1

Before you can learn the basic crochet stitches, you need to know what kind of yarn to choose, and the size of crochet hook you need.



I recommend beginners use a worsted weight (size 4, medium) 100% Acrylic yarn, like Red Heart super saver, and the recommended crochet hook for the yarn they have chosen.



One more thing I forgot to mention. It is important not to choose a dark coloured yarn when you are first learning to crochet. So, it's not a good idea to use black or anything else that will make it hard to see where you are placing your hook.
